Match report Under 9 Eagles vs Great Baddow - 7 July 2019

A very warm Sunday morning saw the Under 9s facing a Great Baddow 8 in a rescheduled match from June.
By agreement Hutton fielded first but with only 7 players, Baddow generously lent us their players to make up the numbers.
Baddow scored a mammoth 295 on a fast outfield despite some very tight Hutton bowling from Georgia and Phoenix.
The fielding was excellent with Katie and Rose showing off the long barriers we'd practiced in the warm up. Elena, guardian of the mid-wicket boundary, also took a terrific high spinning catch on her watch at wicketkeeper.

Chasing close to 300, bearing in the ballpark 200 score at St John’s a week earlier, seemed a daunting task but the girls when at it systematically and Amelia and Annabel getting us off to a great start.
We lost a couple of wickets mid innings but there was little of the playing across the line that had cost us so dearly in the previous game.

Needing 25 to win off the last 4 overs was a big ask but Rose and Amelia where up for it and fell a heart-breaking two runs short at the end.

Overall it was an OUTSTANDING performance from the team and a VAST improvement on previous games. The sportsmanship was exemplary and Hutton should be very proud of their Under 9s Eagles today.
