Dear all

I’ve had a phone call from Club Captain Simon asking me to pass on the sad news that his father John has died. He was 86.

John was an honorary life member of the club having served on the committee for many years including time as both chairman and treasurer.

He was a keen member of the Travellers and Obsoletes who were the forerunners of our 4th and 5th XI playing alongside Dennis Jones and Brian Anfield.

After the death of his wife John moved to be near his daughter Sally in Tamworth but kept in touch with the club through Simon and being a regular attender at President’s Day.

His funeral will be in Brentwood and there will be a celebration of his life at the club. Details to follow.

I’m sure you’ll all join me in passing on our condolences, love and support to Simon and his family.
