Hutton Cricket Club were sad to hear of the passing of Robin Hobbs on Sunday at the age of 81.
Robin had been a regular sight as a player and spectator over the past couple of decades at Hutton and always brightened up the day when he was at the ground.
In his earlier career as a professional cricketer for Essex and England he took 1,099 first class wickets during a career that spanned from 1961 to 1981. He also scored one of the fastest ever hundreds in the professional game against the touring Australians at Chelmsford in 1975, the hundred being scored in 44 minutes of batting.
Robin played for England in 7 test matches, taking 12 wickets and was a regular member of England & MCC tour parties throughout the 1960s, playing cricket in Pakistan and the West Indies
Playing alongside his son Nick, Robin was captain of the 3rd XI at the turn of the century and saw them to a league title on the final game of the season.
