To All Hutton CC Members.
Dear All,
Better late than never I guess. I’m writing in advance of us starting our season this weekend, a couple of weeks late due to the appalling weather we’ve had in March and early April. But at last we are ready to go in our 160th anniversary year.
We face the coming season in a position of strength. It’ll be our third season in the men’s Premier League with our home based side growing in experience every year and ready to face the challenges of the semi-pro teams. Our women and girls sections lead by Cath Dalton are larger than ever before and Cam Tredgett and his coaching crew are reinvigorating our youth programme.
Last year we a gold award from Essex Playing Field Association for the quality of our pitches and I’m pleased to say that we’ve renewed groundsman Graham Milbank’s contract for another two years.
We’ve had some changes off the pitch with President Nick Watson stepping down after five successful years and handing the baton onto Graham Spooner. A big thank you to Nick and his wife Carole for all they’ve done for the club especially during the difficult Covid time.
We also face some financial challenges this year. A number of our sponsor arrangements have come to an end. I’d like to thank Clear Space, eight6seven and Oliver’s butchers for their generous support in recent years.
We now need to fill the gaps they have left. First of all, please pay your annual subscriptions promptly. Secondly, if your business, company or organisation would like to sponsor the club, its players or take up some advertising space on our boundary or website we’d like to hear from you. Large and small packages are available, no offer too small.
We also urge members become more involved as volunteers in the club as coaches, managers or organisers or with help on the main and social committee. New ideas and faces are always welcome.
Best wishes
Jim Lynch
