This Week at Hutton

After the damp weekend before the sun shone and allowed some cracking cricket to be played on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. On Friday night our T20 were in action against Hatfield Peverel, losing by 6 wickets in the end.
Then on Saturday our 5 league sides were in action. The 1st XI won a nail-biter away to Loughton by 15 runs. After falling to 46-6 at one point, they recovered to 174 all out thanks to strong contributions from the lower-order before a disciplined effort in the field kept Loughton in check to pull off an important victory. Highlights of which can be watched here . The win takes the 1st XI to third in the table. One of the catches of the season was taken by Alex Tredgett and it was caught on camera. The 2nd XI held on for a draw against Woodford Wells and are also 3rd in the 2nd XI Premier League thanks to Benjamin Parry's 74 and Oscar Hunwick's 49.
Alex Holloway scored his maiden century and in some style too facing just 80 balls for his 119 away to Upminster for the 3rd XI. Though they ended up losing by 2 wickets, they still took away 11 points from the match.
The 4th XI didn't quite manage to match their strong efforts with the bat in the field at home to Brentwood, eventually losing by 3 wickets despite strong half-centuries from Tom Overington and Dan Latham.
The highlight for the 5th XI was James Sanderson's 100th wicket for Hutton in their loss to top-of-the-table Rayleigh. Fittingly it was an athletic caught and bowled to bring up the milestone.
On Sunday it was time for the Womens 1st and 2nd XI to shine. Cara Castleman scored 116 away at Woodford Wells, ably supported by Amy Hills with 71. The 271 run win keeps their 40 over record perfect with five wins from five. Naturally, they remain top of the table.
The Women's 2nd XI hosted Benfleet's 1st XI and despite wickets from Howard, Vidyaratne, Thurston and Harvey could only restrict Benfleet to 254 from their 40 overs. A half century from Vidyaratne and 22 not out from Howard took Hutton to 154 in reply.
Our Youth cricket programme resumed after all the rain in the previous week. The U14s won in the Alastair Cook Cup by 21 runs while the U12s lost against Brentwood.
