Message from Kate Cross for Hutton CC Girls

It is really good to see the commitment to women's cricket and the interest that girls are showing to get involved in the game. When I was younger I never had to opportunity to play women's age cricket and started at a men's club so it's a fantastic opportunity for the girls.

I hear most of you are West Ham fans.  You are probably too young to remember my Dad, David Cross, when he played at West Ham but I know you are supporting a very good club from everything my Dad has told me. He always talks about his time there with such fond memories. I wasn't born when he played but everybody has told me how good a player he was.

He tells me that his success was due to hard work, in his words he was never the most technically correct player but the hard work he put in was key to his long, successful career. This is the advice I would like to share with you in your upcoming season. Success comes with hard work and enjoyment. The more you are enjoying your cricket the more success you will have. Cricket is such a fantastic sport in terms of team morale and some of my best friends have come from playing cricket. I have no doubt the Hutton Girls will enjoy their season and I wish you every bit of luck.

Thanks

Kate Cross
