Match report As England toiled against Belgium, the u13 Eagles travelled to Brookweald Cricket Club for their district league game against Shenfield Hurricanes. After winning the toss, Hutton decided to bat first opening with Maddison Griffin and Boo Mills. Some strong hitting got Hutton off to a good start, and although wickets fell at regular intervals all team members contributed and the team finished on 114 after their 20 overs. Batting honours go to Boo Mills who retired on 33. Protecting an average total Hutton started quickly with the ball taking a wicket in the first over with some inspired fielding from Elliott Attwater. Shenfield upped the pace though, and at the halfway stage looked odds on winners amassing over 70 runs from their first 10 overs. Hutton dug in, and with the leg spin of Leila Hussain bamboozling the opposition from one end and the accuracy of Nina Kennon from the other the run rate slowed. Some clever batting from Shenfield took them over the line though with 3 overs left in the innings. A great fielding and bowling performance again from Hutton - particular kudos to Nina who, having been hit a number of times by the ball took two wickets in her two overs for just 7 runs. Well played Shenfield and good luck with the rest of your season.
