Match report No gloves required for the scorers this year, as the first game of the season - a first round Lady Taverners T20 clash with Chelmsford Willows - was blessed with warm sunny weather. Hutton won the toss and elected to bowl first, hoping to restrict the strong home side to a chaseable target. The team got off to a good start with some very frugal bowling, Sophie Willson taking the first wicket followed by two in one over from Ava Girling. Willows accelerated through the latter stages of their innings though, with Beth Wright racing to a huge 87 no leaving the home side on 191 after their 20 overs. This was always going to be a difficult target to chase, but Hutton put up a good fight, finally being bowled out for 98 in the 19th over. There were some good batting performances, notably from Ava Girling (28) and Molly Morris (17) in an innings which saw some great power hitting. The team showed great spirit, and should be proud of their efforts against a strong Chelmsford side.
