Match report After being asked to field first, we got off to a great start with our openers, Beth and Lauren, taking three wickets between them for not many runs inside the first 8 overs. And it didn’t really get much better for the hosts, with only the tall left hander Beth John, attempting to score runs. The rest of the team seemed happy just to occupy the crease and we meandered to the end of the 40 overs with a meagre 88 runs on the board. Credit to the hosts that they refused to give their wickets away and they successfully denied us half a bonus point as no matter what we tried we could not remove batter number 6, Ali Toner who finished not out on 5 from 69 deliveries.
Following a good feed at the innings break, we were determined to be more positive in the run chase, evidenced by the fact that we lost three wickets in the 13.5 overs it took us to reach the target. The in form Beth C scored two boundary 4s from the last two deliveries to finish on 51* and see us home.
Well done ladies, a strange game but a very friendly opposition who were heard to call “well bowled Hutton” on more than one occasion!
Hutton now sits at the top of the table and we look forward to travelling to North London for our next game.
