Match report After winning the toss and electing to bat, our hosts lost early wickets and at 26 for 4 we were all thinking about getting home in time to watch the football. Natasha Bourke had other ideas. She batted superbly, forming a good partnership of 31 with Georgina P and then 72 with Jenny G before the latter was runout by a rocket throw from Suzanne. Our bowlers bowled well and we were energetic in the field but we could not dislodge her and the hosts finished on a respectable 149 with Natasha 93*, just 7 short of what would have been a thoroughly deserved century. Tea followed and the inevitable joint teams photo – always a friendly game when we play the Vets.
Over to the batters then with our openers Erica H and Grace P setting the tone early with boundaries from the start. The girls were on top form and reached the target inside 16 overs with no loss of wicket and fantastic strike rates of 135 and 127 respectively.
A good win for us then - but it was also a good spirited game. Our hosts are plucky, nice to play against – and highly entertaining with some very good team mate impressions going on during the batting innings!
