Match report Losing the toss we were inserted by the opposition and knew from the start that it wasn't going to be easy to score runs on a slow pitch and a damp outfield. Sure enough, we lost two of our top order inside three overs and things looked grim. Erica, however, was up to the challenge and proceeded to score relatively freely, well supported by a determined Leila at the other end and between them they amassed a superb close-to-50-run partnership before Erica was undone by the talented left armer Sally C. Loughton it seems has a whole team of talented bowlers and we lost regular wickets after that with only Georgie M showing any resistance, finishing not out on a hard fought 29. Our first innings total of 108 would normally look light in a 40 over game but it turned out to be very decent as our hosts found it no less difficult to score. Rosie and Nina set the tone with the ball, dismissing both openers inside the first three overs, with Rosie going on to take 4 wickets for just 7 runs in her 7 overs. Our supporting bowlers were no less effective and, well backed up by our efforts in the field, we were able to restrict Loughton to just 50 runs and take the win. This was a tough game for everyone - but a nice game against a friendly, welcoming side and it was good to catch up with some old friends. Thanks to Loughton for being great hosts and to Rayleigh CC who provided the pitch and enabled the game to go ahead.
