Match report Batting first, Maldon Ladies got off to an excellent start with two of their batters in particular scoring at a good rate. At 12 overs, it looked like they were on for a big score but Charlotte and Lauren took regular wickets between them and were well supported by Jo and Annette who bowled at an incredibly miserly rate. With the last 8 overs yielding just 18 runs, the visitors finished on a respectable - but gettable - 88. Indeed that proved to be the case and the home side were able to chase down the runs without loss, aided by some uncharacteristically short bowling from the away team who were missing a large part of their bowling contingent. Hats off to Maldon Ladies who played the game in great spirit, remained cheerful and stayed for a BBQ tea afterwards as part of our cricketing evening. We know the game will be tougher when we play the return match at their place.
