Match report A brilliant start to the ladies' EWPL campaign saw a close game over at Overton Drive. Batting first, the opposition got off to a good start with the top order all contributing and the possibility of a huge total looming. Our bowlers however, pulled it back brilliantly and the second half of the innings saw the run rate decline and the wickets fall with Wanstead all out for 166 in the 37th over. Getting off to an equally good start, our opening pair made a partnership of 93 before the first wicket fell. Like the opposition, though, our run rate also declined and our wickets fell steadily, resulting in a tense finish which with the help of a classy looking 16 from Amy O, we managed to see out for the win. It was a good game, closer than it might have been and enjoyed by all.

A proper team effort this but special mention to Amy H for 3 quick wickets that started the opposition decline, to Suzanne for a fabulous catch at the end and to Erica for a sparkling 51 to set the tone at the top of the order. Also to our young fielders - Maddison, Boo and debutant Sophie for some simply outstanding fielding - speed and commitment cutting short certain boundaries and saving valuable runs.
